What this website collects and what happens to it.
- What we collect
- When you send the estimate form, we receive what you type into it (name, email, phone, town and the details of the job) and any drawings or photos you attach. Photos you attach are made smaller on your device before they are sent. When you send the slab quote form, we receive your name, email, phone, project ZIP, customer type and message, the drawings and photos you attach, and the stones on your quote list, with the number of slabs you need of each and the thickness and finish you chose, the stone you typed if it is not listed, and the month or date you need it by.
- What we use it for
- To reply to your request and quote the job. To take your order and arrange pickup. To keep our records of sales and requests, which we need for our books and for the law. To keep spam out of the forms. To tell you about stock, as set out under Email about stock.
- Email about stock
- We may email you about remnants and slabs if you have asked us for an estimate or a quote, or bought from us. Each email says it comes from Compass Stoneworks, shows our address and tells you how to stop. When you tell us to stop, we stop.
- Who handles it
- The website, the estimate form and the slab quote form are hosted by Netlify. Netlify stores the requests and checks them for spam. Requests reach Compass Stoneworks by email, on Compass’s own Microsoft 365 mail.
- Quote list
- The stones you add to your quote list, the stone you type for one that is not listed and the date you need it by are kept in this browser, on your device, until you send the request or take them off. They reach us only when you send the form. If your browser does not allow this, the list is held only while the page is open.
- Typed details
- What you type in the estimate and quote forms is kept in this browser, on your device, until you send the request or close the tab. After you send, your email address is kept for one page view so the next page can say where we reply.
- Your place in the lists
- The address of the Slabs or Remnants page you were last on, with the filters you chose, is kept in this browser, on your device, until you close the tab. The back button on a stone or piece page uses it to return you to the same list.
- Remnant pages
- The Remnants pages ask Shopify, from your browser, which pieces are still for sale and which were added since the page was published. The page of a piece added since then asks Shopify for that piece. The photos of the pieces load from Shopify’s servers.
- Checkout
- When you press Buy, the page asks Shopify to start a checkout for that piece, and your browser goes to a checkout page run by Shopify. What you type there goes to Shopify and falls under Shopify’s privacy policy. Compass Stoneworks receives your order so we can contact you to arrange pickup.
- Cookies
- This site sets no cookies for visitors and runs no tracking or advertising scripts. Shopify’s checkout pages may set cookies of their own.
